Marline Williams

Sweet-yet-swoony mid-mod Christian romcoms

Meet Marline

My upbeat, offbeat, faith-soaked romantic comedies are set in the swingin’ ’60s and funkadelic ’70s (with occasion trips to the nifty ’50s). These sweet-yet-swoony stories go deep, but not dark. All the feels without the freakouts.

AND, every one of my books is 100% human-written…by ME. (Why would I outsource the soul-deep fun of writing to AI?)

These are the kind of books you don’t want to end because you’ve gone bananas for the perfectly imperfect characters and lived every crazy, wonderful minute of their journey with them.

In a former life (no, not the Pharaoh’s daughter kind of past life), I was an advertising copywriter/editor, which, when you think about it, is perfect training for crafting fiction. When not writing, I’m usually thinking about writing and consequently burning dinner.

All Men Are Liars: Book 1

Hey, Jesus People need love, too! It’s 1973 and freshman “dateless” Dana Whitman’s get-a-guy strategy means fitting in at her stuffy Christian college. This fake-out requires squelching her Jesus freaky ways and swapping her funky bell-bottoms for conservative threads. Falling for the devilishly handsome campus wolf was definitely not part of the plan. When temptation feels like true love, will Dana betray her newfound faith or her free-spirited heart?

To thine own self be true. Yeah, right. It’s spring 1974 and Dana arrives in swingin’ London wearing her heart on her sleeve and Roland Schowalter’s ring on her finger. A ring that seems dangerously close to slipping off each time she matches wits with droll, dashing Oxford atheist Cyril Hawthorne. Rumors about Roland’s loyalty—and doubts about her own—force a freaked-out Dana to do some of her most convincing acting off-stage. How can she be true to herself and the man she’s promised to love?

NEW Subscriber Exclusive Mid-Mod Rom-Com Novella
September 22 launch!

A mid-mod screwball rom-com by Marline Williams
At Georgetown’s wedding of the 1957 season, best man John is a nerdy naturalist, maid of honor Jane is a brainy bombshell. Neither has forgotten their fiery freshman fling seven years ago, and Jane’s more than ready for a rematch. Set against the gorgeous backdrop of a Chesapeake Bay autumn, this second-chance romance in the spirit of What’s Up, Doc? and The Lady Eve is laugh-out-loud funny, sweet, and soooo swoony. (The novella’s cover is an homage to the marvelous story illustrations in 1950s magazines like McCall’s, Good Housekeeping, and Ladies’ Home Journal.)
